This page lists all current map zones in the War for Arcadia map. For the complete history of the entire map, see map history. If you're looking for information on a part of the WfA universe that is not included in the map, check out Extra Locations, Arcadia and Levidia. The map of the current round (or any round) can always be viewed by navigating to that round's wiki page.

Chapter 3 changes to the map:

1) FEWER MAP ZONES - As you can see, there are fewer zones present than in chapter 2. Many zones that seemed repetitive were eliminated or combined (for instance, a couple of the many different incarnations of "fields" or "plains" were converted into just one zone of a similar name), and some new interesting zones were added. Whereas the outer limits of larger maps were scarcely used, this smaller map should encourage wider usage of all zones, even the "fringe" locations. A few generic zones changed sides, because we figure it is entirely possible that both Arcadia and Levidia have things like "rivers."

2) NEW "RELIC" SQUARES - One big change to gameplay during chapter 3 will be the addition of "relic" squares, represented in the [thumbnail] as green blocks. The relics are sources of great power that both teams will be looking to access for their own reasons. Canonically, these reasons can be whatever the artist wants, but it may be helpful to use the epilogue and the paragraphs at the top of this state of the war address for inspiration. Here is how the relics work:

GENERAL - The relic squares will add a new strategic element to War for Arcadia. Now, before one team can capture the opposing team's base, they must first possess the central relic and at least one relic on the opposing team's side of the map.

CENTRAL RELIC - This square essentially functions like any other square on the map. It can be held by any team at any time. To attack it, a team needs only to posess at least one zone adjacent to it. No one can maintain permanent control over this square, unless they manage to win every single battle that takes place there.

OUTER RELICS - The outer relics function differently than the central one. If a battle is fought there and the team from the opposing side wins, that team keeps control of the square. For example, if a Levidian Empire player takes control of a relic on the Arcadian side of the map, the Levidian Empire will maintain control of that square for the rest of the war. If the team from the side corresponding to the relic wins it (Arcadia, in the example), it would default back to neutral and the Levidian Empire would be able to attack it again in the future.

3) NEW COLORS AND MAP ORIENTATION - Perhaps the most obvious new aspects of the map are its change in colors and orientation. As some may guess, the rotation was made to more closely represent the geographical positions of Arcadia and Levidia. As before, the size of the squares do not necessarily equate to the size of the actual geography.
