Strengths

A silver tongue and a titanium arm. His original genetic experiments left his physiology drastically altered and he is still trying to come to grasp with his full abilities. Also, being the leader of all of Arcadia as well the CEO of a massive genetics and nanotechnology corporation tends to have some benefits.

Weaknesses

Not a particularly combat-minded individual. Tends to lose control when he actually fights, doing or saying things he would not usually do or say. Stale sense of humor. Alcohol dependant. Trusts too easy.

History/Background

Early Life

(Note: Although he is very secretive about the details of his past, a few details have been gleaned over the years from various sources close to him. His true name, as well as those of his family although, have never been learned.)

The Celestial was born 27 years ago to his Arcadian parents in Arcadia City. He is the youngest of five children and his siblings are as follows: Oldest sister, 38; oldest brother, 36; youngest brother, 35; youngest sister, 33. Being substantially younger than his siblings, he spent many of his younger years on his own, creating his own entertainment.

His parents were fairly well-to-do citizens of Arcadia and shared a small portion of the country's limelight. His father, being born in the Outlands of Arcadia himself, was one of the elected civic representatives for that region and his hand played a large part in the creation of the mandate that halted Arcadia City's slow westward crawl into those unspoiled lands.

His mother, on the other hand, was born and raised deep in the heart of Arcadia City, the beautiful heir-apparent to her parent's massive spaceplane corporation. How one so bathed in the beauty of nature and one springing forth from the twisted spirals of concrete grew to love each other is a mystery, but love each other they did.

Shortly after Celestial's grandparents on his mother's side passed away and their massive corporation was about to be handed over to his mother, reports of corruption and dirty dealings began to surface and the government of Arcadia seized the entire corporation and its assets. The headlines danced across the newspapers for weeks and Celestial's entire family was soon dragged into the fray. "How deep did the corruption lay?" "Did the civic leader son-in-law use his power to help the corporation's filthy growth?"

Not wishing to unjustly pay the price for the faults of their parents, Celestial's parents fled Arcadia when he was a mere 6 years old. Where exactly they traveled in that time is not known, but photos of Celestial in his family during that time have surfaced over the years and they reveal a dizzying schedule of traveling all over the known world. Not wishing their child to grow up uneducated, Celestial soon began a strict regimen of schooling from all members of his family.

Celestial received the basics (English, Math, etc) from his siblings, but he turned to the shared knowledge of the internet and self-study to learn what would prove to become valuable later in his life. He fiddled with various electronic devices he could lay his hands on, taking them apart and studying their components. Instead of just discarding the remains, he managed to rebuild the objects smaller, and in better working condition then when he began. Seeing this potential in him, his parents nurtured this behavior and actually managed to harvest the child's hobby into a sustainable business for the family, funding their world travels.

It was not long before Celestial grew bored of the constant fiddling with boring, unchanging mechanical devices and turned his attentions to more "dynamic" experiments. It started with whatever a child of his age could find. Large insects, frogs, lizards, fish, and so on. But it soon escalated from there, with several small animals turning up missing wherever Celestial's family had traveled. It was not long before his parents discovered his macabre collection of various animals’ parts and samples of blood and the hatchlings of some sort of genetically created creature, too vile to name or understand.

After punishing Celestial (moreso for keeping things secret than the actual infraction itself), his mother set about to distract him with her own teachings. The lessons learned from his mother would prove to be the most influential in his life. Perhaps it was going through the whole ordeal with her parents, or just seeing the raw potential in her youngest child, Celestial's mother began to tutor him in the raw art of corporate war. Using her years and years as the "princess" of a massive corporation, she sharpened his wit and tongue to a deadly weapon, able to topple companies as if they were strawhouses.

Celestial's father was not amused by this new teacher/student relationship, and feared that his wife was forging their youngest son into a corporate weapon of war to avenge the humiliation her family had suffered so many years earlier. Squabbles turned to arguments, arguments turned to fights, and finally the pressures of living abroad and having such stark opinions on how to raise their only remaining child (for Celestial's older siblings had all left years earlier) led to his parents' separation.

Celestial, sick of their petty squabbles and his obvious hand in their arguments, announced he was leaving their care long before they could decide on who would in fact have custody of him. Sensing their child's sense of will and determination, his parents agreed on the first thing they had for months: to let the boy roam free and find his own way in the world. After each parent providing him with a substantial inheritance (for they each tried to one-up each other's "bids"), Celestial bid farewell to his family and set about in the world.

It did not take long for the boy to decide on a destination. After traveling the world so thoroughly, never calling one place home for longer than a year, he took aim for the one place in his life he was ever able to truly call home.

Arcadia.

Return to Arcadia

The Celestial came to Arcadia years ago at the age of 16, and during his time since then, has seen most of what this land can offer. He has witnessed times of peace, times of war, times of social unrest, times of betrayal, times of exodus, times of prosperity. Through all of these times one constant reared its head: conflict. Whether a full-blown war or simple duels between friends, fighting has existed and has steered Arcadia through the ups and downs.

Celestial loved the conflict and fed off of it almost as much as the land itself. He had been on sidelines for every major conflict that has occurred. Observing. Studying. Scheming. From Armacgeddon to Arcadia's first organized tournament [2] three years ago, Celestial was there. The tournament especially captured his imagination. After the first tournament ended abruptly, Arcadia was thrown into yet another period of anarchist battles where friends turned on friends, no alliances existed, and everyone was drawn into the fray. Seeing this opportunity to make a name for himself, Celestial dove headlong into the fire of war.

The Celestial's first taste of battle saw him against hardened war veteran Sonic who would later become a close confidant. Celestial suffered several gunshot wounds but recovered abnormally fast. Halfway through their fight, Sonic and Celestial were distracted by other combatants and went their separate ways.

Empowered by fighting such a war legend and not being torn asunder, Celestial pompously challenged an elderly man in a giant robot, a World War II bombardier, an angry Jedi, and two drunken fools (one of which rumored to be an incarnation of the current day Spectre-x) at the same time. This resulted in Celestial suffering a horrible bout of diarrhea due to the elderly man's "Prune-Beam" and being forced to take shelter in a nearby Port-a-Potty.

After conquering the territory of the dreaded Port-a-Potty, Celestial found himself thrown into conflict yet again when porn-a-holic Jedi named Obiwan overturned the portable toilet in the most vicious of way (force powers were not meant for that). Obiwan then flayed off Celestial's face then posed as him to get a free ride to the hospital.

The Celestial was not deterred by the loss of his face and gave chase. After locating a suitable mask, Celestial found Obiwan at the hospital and turned his knowledge of genetic modification onto his incapacitated foe. When Obiwan awoke, he found himself the proud owner of a new pair of breasts but missing his "little Jedi". In a rage, Obiwan turned his anger on Celestial crotchal regions.

If the Celestial learned anything from the previous months, it was that he was ill-suited for the vigors of war in his current state. Retiring himself from the path of combat, he turned back to the way of genetics and nano-technology. Unable to find sufficient test subjects, many of his first experiments he performed on his own body. Many of these first tests altered his physiology drastically, and quite painfully at times. Many of his early tests utilized the blood of several "outsiders" he managed to procure, including both infernal and "celestial" beings. The cloning process was quite the success though, and before long he had produced his first fully functioning duplicate of himself. Using nano-machines, he was able to control the clone's thoughts and actions as if it was an extension of his own body. Unfortunately though, the clone inherited his inability to fight and Celestial found himself seeking more powerful subjects to perform his tests on.

In the following months, Celestial Genetics and Nanotechnology Laboratories (CGN) sprung from nothingness and soon became a massive corporation, the likes of which had been unseen in Arcadia. Few people knew about CGN's mysterious leader until one day Arcadia hosted its first ever presidential election. Seeing this as his chance to grasp control over all of Arcadia in one fell swoop, The Celestial used the monetary assets of CGN to make his claim at the presidency. Although his platform was considered one of the strongest of the field (violence and underage lesbian schoolgirls), he fell short in the final polls to Noom, he quickly became known as the Commander-in-Briefs due to his pantless approach at the position.

Soon thereafter, The Celestial appeared on the front page of the newspaper and on every channel, stating that he was sponsoring a Battle Tournament like Arcadia had never seen before. Combatants from every corner of the land swarmed to Celestial's massive tower in the heart of the city, seeking glory and a respite from the time of peace that had hung over the land for quite the time.

The vast array of talent made Celestial dizzy with aspirations and over the first portion of the tournament he had gathered enough genetic material from each contestant to being able to produce carbon-copy clones of each one. In the first round of the tournament though, one combatant captured his attention resolutely and Celestial sought her out after she fell in combat against her opponent. Bringing Pennywise back to Celestial tower, Celestial breathed life back into her and took her under his wing. He originally used nano-machines to control her actions, but soon trusted her enough to remove the control devices from her.

Over the course of the tournament, Celestial's sinister plot became more evident to the combatants of the tournament. In one case, Anaximander, Commander in Briefs, Anteros, and SPI, in their epic battle against each other, ended up discovering one of Celestial's labs housing dozens of clones. Fearing that they would turn against him, Celestial promised to fight all of the winners of the next round himself.

Five brave combatants stood strong after the "betrayal" round: Spectre-x, Nicolai Mayday, SPI, Golden Yak, and Mr Dave. Instead of facing off against all five combatants as promised, the Celestial brought out his elite team to combat his opponents. Faithful friend and assistant, Lexxy. Sword for hire, NightDragon. The uncontrolled Pennywise. Celestial's first opponent, Sonic. And Anteros, who Celestial personally traveled into the Anti-verse to recover.(1)

The dust had settled at Celestial Tower with less than predictable results for The Celestial. “Team Celestial”, his shoo-in to quell the out-of-control combatants, had failed in their purpose. Nightdragon disappeared soon after her fight with Golden Yak began. Sonic disappeared (in typical ninja fashion) soon after he defeated Mr Dave. Lexxy had lost her “fight” with SPI, but had thankfully returned to the fold.

Pennywise’s disappearance disturbed The Celestial the most. He had lost track of her fight against Mayday somewhere in the sub-levels of Celestial Tower. A post-match investigation showed that someone had gotten into his databases and obtained information that they shouldn’t have. MagicToaster never agreed with what Celestial was doing, what with the cloning and genetic engineering, and he feared that her damned sense of humanity may have gotten the best of her.

At the conclusion of Spectre-x's fight with Anteros [3], Celestial made a vapid threat to use a device to blow the heads off of all the remaining combatants and in the confusion he ran off and charged Anteros to guard his retreat. Either unable to control the effect of SPI's lycanthropy or just a tinge of humanity, Anteros turned on Celestial and forcefully removed the device from his possession, as well as Celestial's right arm. Seen as no longer a threat, Celestial slinked back into the depths of his tower. As Lexxy cauterized the massive wound closed, Celestial watched as SPI and Spetre-x tore into each other in what could be called the 'Fallen Tournament's Finale'.

The next months were a busy time for the Celestial. Celestial Genetics and Nanotech had gone bottom up after the fallout from the tournament and forced Celestial to work, yet again, underground. Utilizing what remained of his labs spread about Arcadia and the last of his dwindling funds, he began to work on his most ambitious project ever. Using the genetic material from every combatant in the previous tournament, he created what could only be called a genetic "stew" and used that mixture to create his own personal army of Clone Commandos. Before long, he commanded thousands of these genetic troopers.

The "stew" was of course a distilled version of most of the genetic material he garnered from the previous year. He kept the bulk of the highest quality material for himself to use on his own personal experiments, which he still runs on himself to this day in an attempt to better his own existence.

Celestial Tower was slowly rebuilt as well, as it bore massive damage from the tournament as well. Along with the new tower, Celestial worked vigorously at rebuilding himself a new arm using the most cutting edge of bionics and nanotechnology. As the finishing touches were placed on the tower and Lexxy attached Celestial's new arm, the call for war came yet again for Arcadia.

Unfamiliar with combating massive forces of troops, the free citizens of Arcadia rolled over for the approaching forces of Celestial Clone Commandos (C3) and provided very little resistance. Led by powerful combatants, some of which had fought in the previous year's tournament, a few small pockets of resistance sprung up. These rebels lacked the backing an communication to pose a major threat to the organized troops of C3 troops and were forced to flee to the west, far from the city.

The transfer of power in Arcadia from an autonomous collective to a pure dictatorship took mere days. Most of Arcadia's citizens hardly noticed the change and continued their life as they always had. Arcadia was born in conflict and this was just another of the unending conflicts that she would sail through.

Celestial tried to focus on taking care of his new duties as supreme ruler of the land, but he was always thinking, always planning for the time that a revolution would occur and the specters of his past would come back to haunt him.

The War against La Revolution

In the early stages of the war against the forces of La Revolution, Celestial spent much of his time back at Celestial Tower. From there, he not only served in coordinating the forces of the Empire, but as taking time to familiarize himself with the day to day operations of the government of Arcadia in general. To this end, he established civic leaders to watch over various portions of the nation. He would have weekly meetings where the civic leaders would bring forth the happenings of the week and propose new ideas to be approved. Celestial would very rarely use his veto power and trusted his civic leaders in their areas of expertise as they too were citizens of Arcadia and generally were concerned about the nation’s well being.

Once he had more or less mastered his new role of “Emperor”, Celestial wandered the halls of Celestial Tower aimlessly while his commanders were out in battles. Sometimes he would find himself working on side projects CGN Labs, but he still yearned to once again taste battle. His opportunity would come sooner than he expected.

After Tanzt died in a battle against Team Munkus, Celestial traveled to the Cathedral district to pay his respects to the fallen commander, which was quite close the front lines of the war. Keaton Skygunn, a commander of La Revolution received an anonymous tip that he would be there and traveled there alone to face him. Keaton came from a future where Arcadia was almost completely destroyed by the forces of Celestial, and traveled to the past to change it. The two traded minor verbal and physical attacks until Keaton attempted to crush Celestial with a giant granite pillar. Celestial had to resort to using the newly created "Angelarms" variant of his right arm to destroy the falling pillar. While Celestial was distracted, Keaton launched a massive telekinetic attack directly into Celestial's body, destroying part of the Cathedral wall as damaging the Angelarms in the process. Celestial, driven mad by the sight of his own blood, spawned a never-before-seen red and black arm from the stump of his right shoulder and accosted Keaton with a weak psychic attack of his own. Keaton retreated to recover and then Celestial revealed to him that he was his father. Whether this was merely a lie in the form of psychological warfare or the actual truth has yet to be revealed.

Upon returning to Celestial Tower, he had Lexxy confiscated all the records of his trip there so he could review them privately and attempt to replicate his dynamic arm growth. All attempts to do this failed. He was quite distraught in his constant failed attempts to completely understand the original experiments he ran on himself and needed something to distract him. He found this distraction in the form of a small faun called Neon.

Celestial had originally placed Neon in the care of Maja and Shilane, but after a traumatic run-in with the demon Sin, he began overseeing Neon’s care personally. Sensing that there was more then met the eye to Neon and his abilities, Celestial thrust him into the fields of combat and tracked the results carefully.

Anteros and Genome revealed a plan to surprise Celestial at one of his routine visits with some of the various religious leaders of Arcadia. Arriving early with his own team of experts, Genome attacked the Arcadian religious leaders. As Celestial made his approach, the flying transport his was in was destroyed, forcing Celestial to provide his own means of decent in the form of giant feathery wings. On landfall, Celestial first disposed of the religious leaders through various verbal methods before launching Genome's specialists into the stratosphere. Confident in his own abilities, he called Genome out in single combat. Genome, using previous before seen levels of martial prowess was able to defeat Celestial in one-on-one combat and literally crucified him inside of the Cathedral halls and departed. Regaining consciousness several minutes later, Celestial managed to free himself from the cross and the computer in his right arm, after noticing his dropping vitals, called in a med-evac team.

Taking some time back at Celestial Tower to recover, a new arrival came to the tower by the name of Kameshi. A seer by trade, Celestial thought it best to welcome her and form a bond of trust by allowing her to do a tarot reading on him. The reading was more or less going per usual until the seer flipped “The Fool” card onto the table. This overwhelmed Kameshi and left Celestial clueless as to the results when she stated that “It is powerful. It isn't an end to struggle, but perhaps a new view on it... a new direction. A change to Arcadia so extreme that is will shake it to its very roots.” From that day forward, he always carried a facsimile of Kameshi’s Fool card in his jacket, seeing himself as the person to carry Arcadia in a new direction.

Both Celestial and Neon had both recovered from their injuries when The Empire was prepared to make another offensive push into La Revolution territory. Instead of watching tapes or hearing reports of Neon is action, Celestial thought it best to watch over the faun personally. The two of them rode into battle on a massive flying battlecruiser. The witch Amy used a great deal of her power to pull the battlecruiser to the ground and forced Celestial and Neon out into ground combat. Upon leaving the wreckage, they were confronted by the recently escaped Xandriel. Having full trust in Neon’s abilities, Celestial sent the faun after Xandriel while he chased after the two girls, Amy and Lucy. Amy and Lucy took refuge and recovered in a nearby warehouse but were ambushed by Celestial. Quickly dispatching the weakened Amy, Celestial trapped Lucy against the wall and revealed to her that he was in fact, her father. Lucy snapped out at him but was disabled by blessed silver flechettes fired from Celestial’s arm. He then turned his attention on Amy, threatened to kill her. Xandriel (with Neon still attacking him) stopped Celestial and started to crush his neck. Celestial was thankfully saved at the last minute by Neon who jammed by his knives into Xandriel’s face. While this momentarily slowed the the raging Xandriel’s progress, Amy had the time need to cast one more powerful spell at Celestial. Neon once again stepped in and pushed Celestial out of the way, taking the brunt of the spell himself and collapsing in a heap. Still disoriented from Xandriel’s attack, Celestial managed to be with Neon in his last moments before turning his anger onto Xandriel, whom he assumed killed Neon. While there was no visual record of the melee between the two hybrids, reports state that it was a ferocious battle that ended in a stalemate.

The following months, Celestial shut himself off from the majority of the Tower’s inhabitants and spent many long nights analyzing his own condition until, at Lexxy's behest, he finally made a public appearance in the highlands of Western Arcadia. Although he was escorted by a team of the newly developed C3 Elites, his entourage was quickly overwhelmed by The Resistance member Kreuz. The Celestial himself was severely injured but managed to escape the conflict with the body of Kreuz. How this was possible is unknown as records of the incident after the Resistance attack were never found. Some speculate that Kreuz was working with The Celestial Empire all along, while others chalk it up to another "fluke" victory that the underpowered Celestial seems to be able pull out of thin air.

He returned ago to Celestial Tower, reassuming his role of "Hermit Emperor", content to spend his days in his quarters or in his private lab at CGN. Finally unable to deal with the effect on his psyche from the self-inflected genetic testing in the years prior, he set about to purify himself by cloning his pure blood sample taken when he was younger and slowly transfusing it into his body. The process took much longer and took a larger toll on his physical well-being then he had expected. Lexxy became accustomed to searching for him passed-out in his lab when he couldn't be found for days.

During this time his empire, without any guidance from him, made significant progress against the La Revolution forces until they were well within striking distance of the La Revolution Headquarters. Reaching a significant milestone in his transfusion process, he set out to a forward operating location southwest of LR HQ to closer monitor the progress. After picking up the signs of interdimensional transportation, his bravado got the better of him and he headed out into the field to intercept the extra-dimensional intruder. Hiding under the ruse of a druid, he confronted the outsider who turned out to be Garrett. After exchanging verbal blows, things quickly turned physical and Celestial managed to get the better of Garrett who was forced to flee deeper into the forest. Celestial came across a small LR scouting party and dispatched all of the except one female trooper. While Celestial demanded Garrett leave Arcadia permanently or he would kill her, Garrett collapsed in a heap, clutching his chest. As he rose and reached for his medicine, a team of C3s that had been ghosting Celestial interpreted this as an act of violence and fired on Garrett, killing him. Soon thereafter, Corona Payton arrived with Templar reinforcements and Celestial used this encroachment to beat a hasty retreat.

Physical Characteristics

Celestial is five foot, nine inches (175 cm) and currently weighs 155 pounds (with right arm dock but no right arm). His natural hair color is a dark brown and has a distinct natural hair style. There are two cowlicks in the back of his head which form "horns" and his bangs flow off to the left side of his face. His natural eye color is green although he was seen once with a black colored eye with a red pupil in his fight against Keaton Skygunn.

His most noticeable physical feature is his right arm which is cybernetic. At the end of his own tournament, Osiros ripped off his original right arm, forcing him to adapt a new form of prosthetic called a Transscapulal Prosthesis. The prosthetic itself is two separate portions: the shoulder dock and the cybernetic arm. The shoulder dock is constructed of Vanadium-Titanium Alloy latticed with Silicon Carbide Fibres and is permanently attached to his body with Electroactive Polymer Artificial Muscles and "Bone Guides".

The shoulder dock supports multiple arm attachments. Models that have been seen include a "heavy" variant going over the right shoulder, a "day-to-day" variant which is easily hidden, and the "Angelarms" variant which houses a large energy source and a pulse-based laser cannon.

Scars

  • Bullet wound at the base of his sternum (years ago from Sonic)
  • Bullet wound between the 4th and 5th ribs on the left side (years ago from Sonic)
  • Right arm forcibly removed leaving a massive scar. Scar now replaced with a metallic "dock" and fake skin layered up to the dock (arm removed by Osiros)
  • Nearly invisible hairline scar around his face (face flayed off by Obiwan)
  • Nearly invisible hairline scar around his groin as well as heavy pinning on the bones in the area (groin removed by Obiwan)
  • 4 inch scar on the lower right abdomen (stabbed by Genome)
  • 5 inch scar on left hand leading from the center of the palm, between the middle and ring finger, and ending on the top of the hand (knife stabbed through and tore out)
  • Three 3 inch scars across left cheek leading from the outline of the jaw to near the left eye (clawed by Lucy)
  • Three bullet wounds in the left shoulder (shot by Reana)
  • 2 inch scar in the left shoulder front and back (stabbed by Reana)

Celestial FAQs

  • Q: Why the war?

A: As explained earlier, he has a very strong vision for how he sees Arcadia and is dedicated to fulfilling it. While he would rather not force it, that is the only viable option remaining to him.

  • Q: Wings? Double-u tee eff?

A: Also, as stated above, many of the his early genetic tests were carried out on his body since he did not want to endanger anyone else nor did not want to share any abilities. Of course, he is unaware if the manifestation of the wings is due to the testing or his original DNA.

  • Q: So, why doesn't he fly around all the time?

A: He can't really control them. The few times that they have manifested were in times of intense danger. (Jumping from an exploding helicopter, escaping the Ante-verse, etc).

  • Q: What was the black and red arm from the Round Seven?

A: Once again, a previously unseen manifestation that even he was unaware of. He's been attempting to replicate it, but with no avail.

  • Q: Does he have a significant other?

A: Not at this time. He's pretty pre-occupied with running a war and ruling a nation to put the effort into forming a lasting relationship with anyone. That's not saying he'd be against it though.

  • Q: Who's this cat-girl that shows up with him sometimes?

A: That would be Lexxy. She was an original member of Team Celestial in the 2006 tournament and has stuck around as a close aide and friend to Celestial. Out-of-character, it's one of Lexxy's characters that she lets me "borrow".

  • Q: Does he have a family? A childhood?

A: Yep. His mom and dad are Arcadians that moved away from the nation when he was around 5. He has two older sisters and two older brothers (yeah, he's the baby of the family). After moving back to Arcadia when he was 16, he lost most contact with them.

  • Q: Is he actually a pedophile?

A: *shakes head* No.

  • Q: I hear "Lawful Neutral" alot when people mention Cel. What does that mean?

A: Forgive the D&D geek in me, but it's from the alignment system used in a lot of tabletop games. Directly from their website...

"Lawful Neutral is called the "Judge" or "Disciplined" alignment. A lawful neutral character typically believes strongly in Lawful concepts such as honor, order, rules and tradition, and often follows a personal code. A Lawful Neutral society would typically enforce strict laws to maintain social order, and place a high value on traditions and historical precedent. Examples of Lawful Neutral characters include a soldier who always follows orders, a judge or enforcer that adheres mercilessly to the word of the law, a disciplined monk, and the Dungeon Master of a D&D game.

Characters of this alignment are neutral with regard to Good and Evil. This does not mean that Lawful Neutral characters are amoral or immoral, or do not have a moral compass; but simply that their moral considerations come a distant second to what their code, tradition or law dictates. They typically have a strong ethical code, but it is primarily guided by their system of belief, not by a commitment to Good or Evil."

Basically, Celestial does what needs to get done to get the job done. War sucks, straight up. But it's a necessary evil to accomplish his goals.
